On Friday, June 12, The Sisters of the Sacred Heart of the Incarnate Word, who operate the St. Peter's Child Care Centre in Woodbridge, held a fundraiser to fund the refurbishing of the much-needed kitchen facilities at the Centre.
This very successful and inspiring event took place at the Bellvue Manor in Vaughan, Ont., to a sold out crowd, thanks to the efforts of the team headed by Sam Ciccolini, Chairman of the Board.
Special Guest His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo was in attendance to offer his sincere support to this group of women whose charism of 'love and service' have cared for God's children at this centre since 1990.
Representatives from all levels of government were also present to enhance the evening and show their support and gratitude for the Sister's longstanding dedication and spirit of service they continue to offer to generations of families placed in their care.
The evening was further enhanced by musical celebrities, such as singer and songwriter Andy Kim and musician Gil Moore from the band Triumph, who recognized the needs of the Centre with their meaningful contributions.
It was also a time to recognize and acknowledge the sponsors, spiritual leaders, supporters and community members whose efforts have helped advance the mission of The Sisters of the Sacred Heart of the Incarnate Word in Vaughan.
The Superior General, Madre Cleusa A. de Carvalho expressed her “most sincere and deepest gratitude for their help” in her message from Italy saying, "May the Lord, source and giver of all good, grant you the fullness of every grace and everything your heart desires. Let us never tire of doing good, and as our Foundress, Mother Carmela Prestigiacomo says, ‘Let us be heralds and bearers of peace and light, and the world will be enlightened!’
May she intercede from heaven for you and your families."
